The Community Theatre (TCT) is a youth initiative by Beyond Social Services that uses forum theatre to spark conversations where words often fall short.
Co-created with youth from our neighbourhoods, TCT performances are based on real concerns they’ve identified, from sexual violence and mental health to youth crime. Since its inaugural performance in 2014, TCT has offered young people a platform to write, act, and co-facilitate conversations with audiences, using art as both a mirror and a catalyst for change.
Through the process, youth build critical thinking, empathy, and the confidence to take ownership of their narratives and, often, their futures.
As a programme of Beyond, TCT reflects our belief that every young person has a voice that matters, and when given space, support, and trust, that voice can shape not just conversations, but communities.
